Buttermilk Candy

From Grandma Trick.

  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 tbsp white corn syrup
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp soda

Put first 4 ingredients in a skillet, bring to boil, keep foamy until it reaches a soft ball stage (234 to 240 degrees F). Just before candy reaches a soft ball stage stir in nuts and vanilla. After cooking is complete remove from heat and stir in 1/4 tsp soda, stir continually until candy foams. Let it sit a minute then stir again and pour into a greased platter.
